The water holds a good head of large Roach, Crucian Carp and some Skimmer Bream. There is a large head of Common and Mirror Carp to low doubles, with the average being 4 lbs. A good general fishery. River Chelmer, Broomfield Nearest postcode: CM1 7BQ Stretch of the River Chelmer acquired from Mid Essex Angling Association. Parking is on the right hand side of the road only. Mill Lane is a dead end at the river, coming from Broomfield. Fishing permitted for a mile above and below the Mill Pool on the Eastern bank, with the exception of the wierpool which can be fished from both banks.Fish in this stretch are; Carp, Chub to 6lb, Dace to 1lb, Perch to 3½lb, Roach to 2lb 4oz, Trout to 2lb, Pike to 17½lb, Eels to 3lb, Bream to 7lbs and Tench to 4lbs. |

Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation Canal Courtesy of Maldon Angling Society, Doe's Angling Club have now secured angling rights to the 14 miles of canal that is known as the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation. The canal, finished in 1797, runs from the sea lock at Heybridge Basin into Chelmsford. It is host to a wide variety of species including Carp, Pike, Bream, Tench, Chub, Perch, Roach and Dace. Season: 16th June to 14th March inclusive. |

Chelmer & Blackwater Navigation Canal Details Fishing is from tow path and public access banks only. There is no fishing within 30 metres of any lock or within 15 metres of any bridge, weir, wharf, landing stage, permanent mooring or other navigational structure. Members must observe notice boards erected along the canal, as certain banks will remain out of bounds or private.Stocked with carp to 30lbs, pike to 25lbs, bream to 8lbs, tench to 6lbs, chub to 5lbs, perch to 2lbs, roach to 1lb 8ozs and dace to 8ozs.
